When disasters strike in some of the most remote regions of the world, you can reach our most vulnerable neighbors — no matter how far.

After war, famine or natural disaster turns the lives of children and their families upside down, your compassion is there — baked into the warm meals shared, shining Christ's light into the safe shelters built and flowing through the clean water delivered.

Will you channel your love into immediate action when disaster strikes?

DONATE NOW

Your gift will be put to work quickly to reach children and their families with lifesaving emergency supplies, like food, water and safe shelter. Here are some families who have been touched by heartfelt, urgent giving.

Alina and Denis in Ukraine

In Ukraine, Alina Rasulova — a loving mother and kindergarten teacher — lost everything when Russian troops invaded. Hungry and scared, she also worried about her young son, Denis, who couldn’t get his first-year immunizations because they had no access to medical care. Her community is still enduring bombing attacks and struggling through shortages of supplies, electricity, warm meals and clean water.

During the four months of Russian occupation in her village, Alina had “nothing to give her son” Denis and he missed all his first-year vaccines.

Nafy and her children in South Sudan

In South Sudan, Nafy David and her children had to flee devastating flooding in the middle of the night. They survived a perilous 10-day journey to an overcrowded displacement camp through waist-deep waters. The region’s once-lush farmlands are now completely underwater — threatening famine and causing water-related illnesses, like cholera and malaria. The livelihoods of over 1 million of God’s children in South Sudan have been destroyed.

Flooding in South Sudan has destroyed the countryside —and ravaged Nafy’s future.

Emrah and Alev and their children in Türkiye

In Türkiye, Emrah and Alev Güzel and their four young children ran for their lives with nothing but the clothes on their backs as the deadly earthquake reduced their home to rubble. Like thousands of families affected by this tragedy, they had no access to food or water. And no place to live. The trauma they experienced is having lasting effects on their children’s well-being. Their son shocked them when he recently said,

Mom, I want to go to sleep, but I don’t want to wake up anymore.

The earthquake has had lasting mental health effects on children, including Emrah and Alev’s son Ayaz.

Shine Christ's light whenever disaster strikes and do a world of good for your neighbors in need.

DONATE NOW

Your generous and lifesaving gift will ease the devastating burdens of your global neighbors, like those in Ukraine, South Sudan and Türkiye. You’ll provide emergency food … safe shelter … clean water … critically needed medical supplies … and much more as soon as disaster strikes.

Because of your loyalty and dedication to your neighbors in need, Lutheran World Relief will remain on the ground — long after the headlines fade and other organizations have left the region — to help families rebuild and to restore hope. And your gifts will help ensure they are better prepared for the next potential disaster.

Without your love, your neighbors who lost everything will continue to suffer.

Share your love as soon as disasters strike — no matter how far.
