South Sudan Country Overview

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) began working in South Sudan in 2012, providing child protection and education services to Sudanese refugees in Upper Nile. LWR now provides livelihoods support to internally displaced people (IDPs) and continues to support South Sudanese refugees who have fled to neighboring countries in search of safe haven. To address the food crisis fueled by severe drought and deadly civil war, LWR also provides critical aid to families, especially infants and young children, who are severely malnourished.
